Description
Deity Microphones TC-SL1 Overview
The Deity Microphones TC-SL1 is a Bluetooth-enabled, wireless timecode slate that combines a timecode generator with a dimmable, backlit dry-erase surface, a traditional clapper, and an LED dot-matrix timecode display that’s flippable for tail slating. At the core of the smart slate is a high-quality timecode generator that boasts an ultralow drift rate of only one frame every 72 hours, ensuring that your footage and audio remain tightly locked over the course of the day.
You can wirelessly jam and control the TC-SL1 from your phone via Bluetooth at up to 250′ using the Sidus Audio app or even sync it from Deity TC-1 timecode boxes (available separately) using the company’s proprietary 8-channel, 2.4 GHz radio ecosystem. You can jam cameras and audio recorders by hardwiring them through the unit’s 1/4″ TRS and 5-pin LEMO timecode ports, which are compatible with most existing timecode cables. The two NP-F550 rechargeable batteries can be hot-swapped between each other, and the USB-C port can support up to 25W charging.

Both the backlit dry-erase surface and the bright LED dot-matrix timecode display can be dimmed from 0 to 100%.
When you open the clapperboard, you trigger the display and the backlight turns on.
The TC-SL1 smart slate display can be seen on camera no matter how it is held in front of the lens and no matter what angle the light is coming from on set.
The faceplate is made of a type of dry-erase polymer with an anti-reflective surface. This unique matte finish faceplate means post-production will easily be able to reference the slate during editing.
Wireless connectivity means you can easily jam sync multiple TC-SL1 slates and TC-1 timecode boxes remotely during the day, eliminating even this tiny amount of drift.
Two wireless control options are available. Bluetooth 5.0 support allows you to use the Sidus Audio app on your phone to jam sync and control every aspect of up to twenty TC-1 units at a distance up to 250′ away.
If you prefer a more hands-on approach, the unit’s OLED screen and control panel allow you to sync up to eight units remotely via proprietary wireless 2.4 GHz technology at a distance up to 30′ away.
This sophisticated timecode generator supports all SMPTE formats, making it compatible with any brand of timecode gear on the market. Plus, the TC-SL1 can auto-sync its internal TC and FPS to an external timecode signal.
Even after powering down the TC-SL1 timecode will continue running for 6 hours.
The TC-SL1 features a TXCO (Temperature compensated crystal oscillator) with an accuracy of ±0.5 ppm accuracy, yielding an ultralow drift rate of only one frame every 72 hours.
Connect all your devices to your phone or Macbook laptop via the Sidus Audio app.
With the app, you can control your TC-SL1’s settings, monitor their status, and sync all your units at once.
The TC-SL1 features a built-in handle, allowing it to be operated with just one hand.
The clapperboard slate also features a thumb notch, making the whole process of holding and operating the slate easy and comfortable.
The timecode slate features dual NP-F battery bays. This allows you to hot-swap the two included NP-F550 rechargeable batteries (if you forget to charge them) without having to power down your smart slate.
And best yet, you can take your digital slate and plug it into the included USB-C charger overnight to top off your current NP-F batteries.
The included battery packs have a capacity greater than the average capacity of an NP-F550 battery, which is less than 1mAh and 2Wh.
Deity included undervoltage discharge protection, overvoltage protection, and short detection cutoff protection in the design of these batteries.
Plus, the batteries’ Deity yellow exterior shell helps make them easier to spot in the dark. Any device compatible with Sony L-Series batteries will work with these batteries.
The TC-SL1 is built out of a single piece of aluminum and milled on a robotic CNC machine.
This gives it the ultimate build quality and just feels great in the hands.
We selected black walnut wood from a certified sustainable farm in Tennessee, USA for our wooden clapperboards to withstand heavy use.
Black Walnut is an incredibly durable hardwood. It has excellent shock resistance and resists warping from heat and humidity.
